Let Bloomington, Indiana scum punk band Wenches introduce you to their favorite local dive bar, The Vid (aka the Video Saloon), in their latest video for the single, “Buzzkiller.” It’s four minutes of dirty riffs, raunchy vocals and nasty attitude with an equally sketchy drinking establishment as the backdrop. The track is the quartet’s—Jarod (guitar), Mike (bass), Brad (drums), James (vocals)—latest single from its second full-length, Stupid Sick.
Stupid Sick was recorded and mixed by Carl Byers at Clandestine Arts.Vocals and guitar solos were recorded and mixed by James Bauman at Master Kontrol Audio. It was mastered by Don Fury at Don Fury Studio, New York. It’s set for release on CD, vinyl, cassette and digitally via various labels on July 11. Place your preorder for the CD here, vinyl here and cassette here.
Here’s what vocalist James Bauman had to say about the track and video:
“Getting older, letting go of the livin’-at-the-bar, carefree party lifestyle and adapting to adulthood can be pretty fucking difficult and sad. We used to spend so much time at the bar shown in the video, coincidently named “The Vid,” short for Video Saloon and notorious for those long stairs shown in the video and mentioned in the song. Walking up those stairs usually led to one helluva night. Or, maybe the night didn’t really start until walking down them at 3 am.”
