Swedish melodic DM outfit Vittra are back in the fray with album number two, Intense Indifference, and we’re premiering the latest single, “Reign Supreme,” from their upcoming 10-track bruiser. “Reign Supreme” opens with a notably Slayer-inspired chug fest (think Seasons in the Abyss era), but the band—Alex Smith (drums), David Döragrip (vocals), Gustav Svensson ( bass), Johan Murmester (guitars), Lars Elofsson (lead guitar)—actually pack a lot of different vibes in this (mostly) mid-tempo tune. It even gets a little rock ’n’ roll in the groove-heavy bridge.
Intense Indifference was produced by Johan Murmester. It was recorded and engineered by Simon Johansson at SolnaSound Production and mixed and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound. It will be self-released by the band on vinyl and digitally on September 19. You can place your preorder here.
The band had this to say about the new track:
David Döragrip (vocals): “This one’s about strength in numbers and opposing false promises and ideals. Stay real, don’t let your fears petrify you. We’ve got the numbers to reconquer the throne!”
Johan Murmester (guitars): “I have been wanting to write a song where you have that right-hand rhythm work on guitar, but still with a groovier mid-tempo feel on drums and bass. Now we have got it together. I also love the mid-section with the more rock ’n’ roll Priest-style riffing (coming via Annihilator, though).”
