Three days into the nationwide quarantine of 2020, Brooklyn-based one-man sonic demolition unit Trace Amount dropped a crushing and eerily prescient music video filmed for the title track of their 2019 debut, Fake Figures in Sacred Scriptures. In the video, filmed weeks before the pandemic reached America, Trace Amount’s operator Brandon Gallagher walks through rainy and deserted nocturnal city streets in a blonde wig and gas mask while their bass-heavy, percussion-centric music beats your subconscious into bloody submission.
Now, seven months into the Covid-19 pandemic, we stand complicit once again as with the NYC solo industrial powerhouse Trace Amount as we present “Processed Violence (in 480P),” from their forthcoming EP, Endless Render—out November 20th. Six bursts of doomed times industrial punishment. We’re psyched to present the opening track from the new EP, featuring Billy Rymer (ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) on drums. No question this track crushes on a whole new dimension, thanks to the addition of Rymer, but at only two and a half minutes, this track hits like a punch thrown at weigh-ins. November 20th can’t come soon enough!
The author of this subliminal terror Brandon Gallagher writes: “‘Processed Violence (in 480p)’ is a collaboration between Billy Rymer and I. We linked up on IG right around when quarantine began and kept in touch sending midi demos until we hashed out what became the track. It wasn’t until months later that it felt like it was safe to meet up IRL and track real drums. I’ve always been a fan of his work with The Dillinger Escape Plan, but I randomly saw him play with ho99o9 on the Korn tour (at Jones Beach) and I knew that was definitely an element I wanted to bring into Trace Amount in one form or another. As much as I wanted this project to be anti drums, they’re my favorite instrument to alter sonically from a production standpoint and that was something we connected on, and was ultimately brought to life mixing with Ben Greenberg.”
