Rig Rundown – Joe Robinson

Guitars

During this run, Robinson brought out three guitars–a Fender Strat, a Fender Jazzmaster, and a Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman. The Strat was the first guitar Robinson bought for himself when he was around 14. He recently put a new neck on it–afters years of truss rod misuse when he was younger–and installed Mick Brierley pickups. The Gretsch is entirely stock with the exception of TV Jones pickups. All of his electrics are strung with a .010 set of Elixir strings with the high string replaced with a .012.

Amps
For his electric trio shows, Joe uses a dual amp setup consisting of a Laboga Alligator 30 and a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia. An avowed fan of Class A amps, Robinson runs both amps all the time with only his reverb (and occasionally the delay) run in stereo. Since both are run pretty hot he places a sheet of plexiglass in front to keep the front row happy.

Effects

For his main electric rig pedalboard, Robinson uses a T-Rex Octavius, Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 reissue, T-Rex Tremster, Eventide Time Factor, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, and a T-Rex Room-Mate all powered by a T-Rex Fuel Tank. Off to the right of this board he has a Crybaby Wah, Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, and a Peterson StroboStomp 2.

On the acoustic side, he plugs into a Boss TU-2, another T-Rex Octavius, and a Boss RC-30 Loop Station. For amplification he goes into an AER Pocket Tools mixer and then into his Compact 60 (not shown).
