PAT TRAVERS Releases New Single 'Push Yourself'

Legendary guitarist Pat Travers and his band have just released a blazing new single, “Push Yourself”. Built around Travers’s trademark Fender Strat, the track crackles with intensity and bravado. The guitar playing is matched in grittiness and power by Travers’s own vocals, which ring out like a wakeup call to anyone thinking that this veteran blues rocker will be resting on his laurels.

As Travers himself puts it: “‘Push Yourself’ is a mantra I use when I need to get my ass in gear and get stuff done. Pretty simple.”

The “Push Yourself” music video, which was assembled using recent live footage of Travers tearing up the stage intercut with scenes from the recent LYNYRD SKYNYRD dramatization “Street Survivors: The True Story Of The Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash”, can be seen below.

In addition to the single being available on all digital platforms, it will also be pressed on limited-edition red seven-inch vinyl backed with another new cut, “Full Spectrum”, both of which are set to appear on Travers’s new studio album coming later this year.

PAT TRAVERS BAND has scheduled a number of concerts this spring and summer, including select dates with CACTUS.

Last month, METALLICA announced it will perform only two summer stadium shows in 2022: Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, New York on August 11, and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 14. Both shows will feature special guests GRETA VAN FLEET and ICE NINE KILLS.

METALLICA previously played at Highmark Stadium on July 25, 1992, and Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium on July 26, 1992.

This spring, METALLICA will perform at the BottleRock festival in Napa on May 27 and Boston Calling on May 29. The band also has a number of South America and European dates scheduled for spring and early summer.

Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield, METALLICA has become one of the most influential and successful rock bands in history, having sold nearly 120 million albums worldwide and generating more than 15 billion streams while playing to millions of fans on all seven continents. The band’s several multi-platinum albums include “Kill ‘Em All”, “Ride The Lightning”, “Master Of Puppets”, “… And Justice For All”, “Metallica” (commonly referred to as The Black Album), “Load”, “Reload”, “St. Anger”, “Death Magnetic” and “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct”, released in November 2016 and charting at No. 1 in 32 countries.

METALLICA’s awards and accolades include nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and its 2009 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. In June of 2018, the band was awarded one of the most prestigious musical honors in the world: Sweden’s Polar Music Prize.

Last month, SKID ROW guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo confirmed to The Music Universe that his band’s new album will arrive on September 16. The group recorded the LP in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has previously worked with FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR, HALESTORM, EVANESCENCE, RUSH and ALICE IN CHAINS, among many others. A single will precede the effort in late March.

SKID ROW’s new album will mark its first release with South African-born, British-based vocalist ZP Theart (DRAGONFORCE, TANK, I AM I), who joined the band in 2016 following the departure of Tony Harnell (TNT, STARBREAKER).

Unlike 2014’s “Rise Of The Damnation Army – United World Rebellion: Chapter Two” and 2013’s “United World Rebellion: Chapter One”, SKID ROW’s forthcoming release will be a full-length record.

SKID ROW’s new LP will be released via earMUSIC, the recorded music label of German entertainment group Edel AG which boasts a roster of global artists including DEEP PURPLE, Alice Cooper, BABYMETAL, THUNDER, STATUS QUO and many more.

SKID ROW previously collaborated with several outside songwriters on its new material, including Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR) and Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of HALESTORM, a group that covered the title track of “Slave To The Grind” on its “ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP” in 2011. SKID ROW also worked with songwriter-for-hire Marti Frederiksen, who has previously collaborated with AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow.

As previously reported, SKID ROW has replaced QUEENSRŸCHE as the support act on the rescheduled dates for SCORPIONS’ “Sin City Nights” Las Vegas residency. The run of shows, which was originally slated to take place in July 2020 and was later pushed back to May 2021, will now happen in March-April at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Last August, SKID ROW celebrated the 30th anniversary of its classic second album, “Slave To The Grind”, by performing it in its entirety at The Amphitheater at Rolling Hills Casino And Resort in Corning, California.

Last May, WARRANT singer Robert Mason was asked in an interview with the “Thunder Underground” podcast if there had been any talk of a follow-up to 2017’s “Louder Harder Faster” album. He responded: “Not as far as a defined schedule, but we’re always writing. In all candor, the focus for 2019 was the 30th anniversary of ‘Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich’ and that tour. And then, on the heels of that, in September of 1990, ‘Cherry Pie’ was released, so 2020 was the 30th anniversary — or is, [and] has been — for the ‘Cherry Pie’ record. So, in early 2020, we revamped the stage set, staging — everything — and were all set, like ‘1, 2, 3, go.’ We stopped to do a 30th-anniversary-of-‘Cherry Pie’ tour, playing all, if not damn near all, of those songs as the focus. And, like I said, the light, staging, the whole vibe of it was kind of to pay tribute to the 30th anniversary and all the fans that love the ‘Cherry Pie’ record so much. So, I think we’re just taking a mulligan — if you play golf, we’re just taking a mulligan on 2020 and we’re going straight in in June and beyond and go right forward to do a 30th-anniversary-of-‘Cherry Pie’ tour. So, once we feel that we’ve gotten that out of our system enough, we’ll probably end up writing songs.”

A couple of years ago, WARRANT guitarist Erik Turner told the “Talking Metal” podcast that the group was “throwing some ideas around” for a new LP. He said: “I’ve been sending Robert some riffs, and Robert’s been working on songs. I’ve got a song going with Jerry [Dixon, bass]. So it’s a slow, long process for us, but the seed of a new record has been started. Now, that doesn’t mean the seed will grow into a record. We’ve got a long way to go. We don’t have one finished song. We’ve got a couple of things cooking, and we’re actually sending ideas around back and forth to each other.”

“Louder Harder Faster” was released in May 2017. The disc was recorded with producer Jeff Pilson — a veteran bassist who has played with DIO, FOREIGNER, DOKKEN and T&N, among others — and was mixed by Pat Regan, except for the song “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink”, which was mixed by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, PRONG, LAST IN LINE).

Mason replaced original WARRANT frontman Jani Lane in 2008 and has brought a degree of stability to the band after Lane’s unceremonious departure and subsequent 2011 death.

WARRANT is rounded out by original members Joey Allen (guitar) and Steven Sweet (drums).

RAMMSTEIN To Release New Music This Week

RAMMSTEIN will apparently drop a music video for a new song later this week.

Earlier today, the German industrial metallers revealed that the track, which is believed to be titled “Zeit”, will make its online debut on Thursday, March 10 at 8:00 a.m. PST.

Last November, RAMMSTEIN guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe confirmed that the band’s already completed new album will be released before the launch of the group’s next world tour.

RAMMSTEIN is scheduled to kick off the European leg of the band’s 2022 tour on May 15 in Prague, Czech Republic. A North American stadium run will begin on August 21 in Montreal and end on October 4 in Mexico City.

Last October, RAMMSTEIN drummer Christoph Schneider said that European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas Pesquet was one of the first people to hear a song from the band’s upcoming album.

Almost two years ago, RAMMSTEIN postponed its 2020 North American stadium tour due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe. The trek was then moved to the summer of 2021 before being postponed once again, this time to the summer of 2022.

RAMMSTEIN’s seventh, untitled album came out in May 2019 via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the U.S. The band’s first studio disc since 2009’s “Liebe Ist Für Alle Da” debuted at No. 1 on the album charts in 14 countries and was the band’s tenth No. 1 in Germany. The LP was produced by Olsen Involtini with RAMMSTEIN and was mixed at a Santa Monica, California studio with Rich Costey, an American producer who has previously worked with MUSE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and FRANZ FERDINAND, among others.

THRICE Announces U.S. Co-Headlining Tour With BAYSIDE

After a wildly successful past year following the release of its latest album “Horizons/East”, California rock band THRICE will embark on a co-headlining tour with punk outfit BAYSIDE. The trek kicks off on June 3 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania and will be visiting cities throughout the United States with special guest ANXIOUS. Pre-sale tickets are available now at Thrice.net. All additional tickets go on sale Friday, March 11 at 12 p.m. ET.

Regarding the upcoming tour, THRICE drummer Riley Breckenridge states: “We had a blast on our ‘Horizons/East’ headline tour last fall and can’t wait to get back on the road with BAYSIDE and ANXIOUS and share more of the record with you all.”

Released in September 2021 via Epitaph Records, “Horizons/East” conveys a palpable sense of danger, determination, and possibility. The album exemplifies art as a work of recognition — the human task of perceiving oneself amid details, disasters, and blessings as a relentlessly relational phenomenon among others. In this, “Horizons/East” is the rare rock album on which interrelatedness is a theme, painting an adventurous and lush landscape mixed by Scott Evans that the band self-produced and recorded at their own New Grass Studio.

THRICE and BAYSIDE co-headline tour 2022 dates:

June 03 – McKees Rocks, PA – The Roxian Theatre
June 05 – Bethlehem, PA – SteelsStacks
June 06 – Cleveland, OH – House of Blues
June 08 – Albany, NY – Empire Live
June 09 – Silver Spring, MD – The Fillmore Silver Spring
June 10 – Sayreville, NJ – Starland Ballroom
June 12 – New York, NY – Pier 17
June 14 – Fort Wayne, IN – Piere’s Entertainment Center
June 15 – Chicago, IL – Radius
June 16 – St. Louis, MO – The Pageant
June 17 – Kansas City, MO – The Truman
June 18 – Denver, CO – Mission Ballroom
June 20 – Dallas, TX – House of Blues
June 21 – Austin, TX – Emo’s

To emerge from a global pandemic with a renewed sense of situational awareness, hard won insight, and a new album is the kind of move we’ve come to expect from THRICE over the last twenty years. With “Horizons/East”, Dustin Kensrue and his bandmates address, with candor and courage, the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization, while inviting us to dwell more knowingly within our own lives. Without surrendering any of the energy and hard edge of their previous albums, they’ve given us a profoundly meditative work which serves as a musical summons to everyday attentiveness.

Since forming THRICE with guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge in 1998, Kensrue has never been one to back down from a mental fight. “Horizons/East” communicates comfort with uncertainty, its uncertainty as the beginning of wonder. Not knowing something for certain can occasion a blossom, an opportunity, as opposed to a dead end. This uncertainty is something the band seems to embrace with their entire career, and especially in their approach to this record, building out their own studio and recording completely on their own, unsure of what exactly they could extract from themselves this time around. THRICE seems ever eager to step out into these spaces unknown to them, unsure of where their feet will land, and the most recent record is no exception.
