UNDEROATH Announces 'Digital Ghost' Cinematic Concert

UNDEROATH will perform its new album, “Voyeurist”, in its entirety via the “Digital Ghost” cinematic concert on December 3, in partnership with Moment House. The “Digital Ghost” event will continue to push further down the path the band blazed in the digital performance space last year with its groundbreaking “Observatory” event. “Observatory” was considered a major reference point in the evolution of livestreaming with its influence apparent in digital concerts from major artists thereafter. It was praised by everyone from Revolver and Loudwire to Forbes and CNBC for the unique way it treated fans to a raw and visceral experience with the hits they longed to see played live while being robbed of concerts during the pandemic. In addition to the enjoyment it brought fans during a difficult time, it reached a level of success where the band was able to replace the tour income they would have otherwise lost in 2020 and keep a team of over 20 live music professionals employed for a month while the industry was struggling to provide jobs.

This time around, “Digital Ghost” offers something entirely different — a chance to be part of a communal moment built around UNDEROATH music that nobody has ever heard before. “Voyeurist” is arguably the most ambitious record of the band’s career, and it’s only fitting that the first time fans hear it will be during this equally ambitious event.

Get your tickets now for “Digital Ghost” through Moment House and secure your spot in witnessing a pivotal moment in Underoath history.

UNDEROATH’s Tim McTague comments: “When we started conceptualizing the ‘Voyeurist’ event, we knew that we wanted to do something different than a traditional livestream. We have done three of them and, coming back a year after ‘Observatory’, we knew we didn’t want to just repeat the cycle. One of the biggest goals was the idea of blending narrative with the visuals.

“Threading the needle on a live performance while adding in cinematic elements was a big part of ‘Digital Ghost’. The goal of ‘Observatory’ was never to re-create a static live performance, and I think ‘Digital Ghost’ is an extension of that thought. In the end, ‘Digital Ghost’ is an attempt to push boundaries as a band and set a new bar for what virtual live experiences can be.

“With everything we do, there is a lot of risk and some lofty goals. It’s pretty special to conceptualize these projects and then watch them form in real time, especially when you have a finite amount of time and resources.”

Arjun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Moment House, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with UNDEROATH for their ‘Digital Ghost’ cinematic concert ahead of the release of their new album. The band have masterfully embraced this powerful new medium and we can’t wait to help bring their remarkable creative vision to life with their fans around the world.”

Over the past few months, UNDEROATH has continued to excite fans with a cryptic release plan that has included four singles from “Voyeurist” to date. Each track revealed has been accompanied by a deeper glance into the meaning behind the new record, which functions more as a multimedia art project than a standard album campaign. At the heart of this release is the immersive web site, voyeurist.io, where visitors are able to peer in on other fans, as well as the band, begging the question of whether or not what they’re witnessing is happening in real time or is something pre-recorded. This serves as a microcosm of the overall effect that a digital existence has on us all and provides some insight into the concept of “digital ghosts” that is essential to the meaning behind the record.

“Voyeurist” marks the first time in UNDEROATH’s storied career that they took the recording process completely into their own hands. The result is the band’s most collaborative album and, anchored in a profound respect for each other, one that left no stone unturned creatively. The band refers to “Voyeurist” as “high-def violence” — technologically advanced, but undeniably visceral. Conceptually, “Voyeurist” has several interrelated meanings, each tying back to the concepts of how we curate ourselves through social media and how that facade masks a lot of what we actually experience in life. The album is a cohesive listening experience with enough layers to provide fans with a fresh take and new favorite track on every spin. Leading up to the album release, fans have been able to discover clips of new songs in exchange for granting camera access through the band’s immersive web site, voyeurist.io.

TOMMY LEE's Wife 'Highly' Recommends Fat-Burning Technology Used By VINCE NEIL

Tommy Lee’s wife has publicly thrown her support behind the fat-burning technology that Vince Neil has been trying out in an apparent effort to get in shape for MÖTLEY CRÜE’s upcoming “The Stadium Tour”.

Two months ago, Vince revealed he was using Emsculpt Neo, a revolutionary new treatment which supposedly builds muscle and reduces fat using both radio frequency and high-intensity electromagnetic energies.

Earlier today, Brittany Furlan, who has been married to the CRÜE drummer for nearly three years, took to her Instagram to share a video of her wearing the Emsculpt Neo device strapped on to her body, and she wrote in an accompanying message: “Ok so here’s my honest review of #EmsculptNeo on the tummy: not painful at all, honestly just feels like you’re laying there and doing crunches (which um, I don’t have to get up or move my body in any way? Yes please!) Apparently 30 minutes is equivalent to 20,000 crunches! Afterwords I felt like I definitely did a serious work out. HIGHLY recommend. Can’t wait to show you guys my 38 pack”.

Last year, fashion and beauty influencer and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo also revealed she was using Emsculpt Neo as a way “to get back in shape without having to feel like you’re not giving it your all.”

According to Swagger, the Emsculpt Neo procedure “is done in-office, is needle-free, and does not require any downtime. The technology uses energy waves that cause your muscles to fire up to 20,000 times per 30-minute session for simultaneous deep tissue muscle building, remodeling, and fat burn.”

Back in May, Neil made headlines when he struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn’t performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band.

MÖTLEY CRÜE’s “The Stadium Tour” with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In December 2019, CRÜE manager Allen Kovac told Fox Business that “some of” the bandmembers had enlisted outside help to get in shape for the trek. Kovac was referring to criticism of Neil for his supposed diminished singing ability and weight gain, as well as the health status of guitarist Mick Mars, who has been dealing with a chronic form of arthritis that led him to undergo a hip replacement.

Kovac explained: “Some of them are working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be. The greatest insecurity for an artist is: Is anyone going to care about my music? Is anyone going to buy a ticket? We were in November [2019] when the discussions were happening, and these guys were already into regimens of how they get ready for a tour.”

Speaking specifically about Neil, Kovac added: “Let’s see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out.”

CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx also said that Vince was “killing it” while working with “trainers” and “nutritionists” in preparation for “The Stadium Tour”.

ACE FREHLEY Is Working On 'Some Heavy Songs'

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley says that he has collaborated with his longtime friend Peppy Castro on “some heavy songs.”

Peppy reportedly taught Frehley how to play guitar and previously collaborated with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons as a songwriter and performed on Frehley’s and KISS frontman Paul Stanley’s solo records.

Frehley shared the news of his latest latest studio sessions with Castro in an Instagram post on November 4. At the time, he wrote: “Been Recording all day w/my dear friend Peppy Castro…collaborated on some heavy songs!!!”

Earlier today, Ace offered an update on his studio activities, writing: “Been Recording all day!!! I’m thinking about Christmas & how lucky I am that I have complete creative freedom over my music, and I’m very thankful for all the gifts God has given me… I sometimes forget how good I have it, and I’m trying to act humble & be worthy of my talents & situation, considering I grew up with nothing in the Bronx!”

Last December, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would started recording his next all-original album earlier this year. The record will be the follow-up to “Spaceman”, which was released in October 2018 via eOne. At the time, he said that had “been writing all along. Plus, I have tracks that I’ve already recorded that I have to revisit and decide whether they have a chance to make it on my new studio record — [if they] have to be rewritten or [they’re] just good the way they are,” he explained. “And I’ve got people sending me song ideas constantly… So, little by little, it’s an ongoing process, and it evolves as it goes.”

Earlier last year, Frehley told Canada’s iHeart Radio that he had “only written about three songs” for his next LP, and he added they were “not finished.” He said: “Now that I’m [living] on the East Coast [after moving to New Jersey from Southern California], my engineer only lives an hour from me, Alex Salzman, who worked with me extensively on this last record, and he played a lot of bass guitar as well, So it’s gonna be even easier, ‘Origins Vol. 3′ and the next [original] record.”

Frehley’s latest release was “Origins Vol. 2”, the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist.

“Origins Vol. 2” featured cover versions of THE BEATLES’ “I’m Down”, DEEP PURPLE’s “Space Truckin'”, LED ZEPPELIN’s “Good Times Bad Times”, THE ROLLING STONES’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, THE KINKS’ “Lola” and THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE’s “Manic Depression”, among others. A cover of the 1975 KISS tune “She” also appeared as a bonus track. Guests on the set included CHEAP TRICK’s Robin Zander, Lita Ford and former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on “Spaceman”, “Without You I’m Nothing” and “Your Wish Is My Command”, the latter of which also features Simmons’s bass playing.

SLASH Says Only One Member Of His Solo Band Managed To Avoid Catching COVID-19 During Making Of '4' Album

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will release their new album titled “4” on February 11, 2022, via Gibson Records in partnership with BMG. “4” is Slash’s fifth solo album and fourth overall with his band featuring Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass, vocals) and Frank Sidoris (guitar, vocals).

Speaking about the making of “4”, Slash told LA Lloyd (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We recorded everything live, so we did two songs a day for five days; it’s a 10-song record. And at the very end of all that, I started guitar overdubs and I got a call on the phone from Myles, who was in the building. And he’s calling me. And I said, ‘So, what’s up?’ And he goes, ‘Man, I tested positive.’ ‘Cause we had been testing every couple of days while we were [in Nashville recording the album]. We were staying at an Airbnb over there, so we had this big place and everybody had their own room. So he went into quarantine, and then consequently Todd and Brent tested positive as well. So I was negative. Frank was negative. Dave [Cobb], who produced the record, was negative. One of the engineers was positive, so we lost him, and then the other engineer was negative. So we started doing overdubs. And the thing was there wasn’t a lot of overdubs to do ’cause we did everything live anyway. So I did the guitar overdubs in a couple of days, and I was, like, ‘Okay, so now what?’ So we started mixing the record [while] waiting for the quarantine period to end. In Nashville, I managed to get vaccinated, and then a couple of days later I went and tested and tested positive. And I was, like, ‘Fuck!’ So now I’m quarantined. But at this point, we’d taken some microphones and some other gear over to the house and we started doing background vocals and whatever lead vocals Myles had left in the guest house in the quarantine mansion, as I called it. So we got some work done. And then those guys were free and clear to go, and then since I was vaccinated, I was clear to go pretty quickly. And then we went in and mixed the rest of the record, put some percussion on and mixed it, and that was it. Frank was the one guy that didn’t catch it.”

Last month, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS released the opening track and first single from “4”, “The River Is Rising”. The accompanying music video was shot on location in downtown Los Angeles with Gibson TV director Todd Harapiak.

For “4”, Slash and the band traveled across the country together to Nashville, Tennessee and recorded the new album at the historic RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile). Cobb shared the band’s desire to lay down the tracks live, in the studio including guitar solos and vocals — a first for the group.

The band’s previous albums over the last decade — “Apocalyptic Love”, “World On Fire” and “Living The Dream” — have continued on an upward trajectory, all achieving Top 5 Billboard charting debuts in the U.S. and reaching the Top 10 on 12 major charts across the globe. To date, the three SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS albums have now garnered 10 consecutive Top 5 Radio singles, spawned sold-out world tours, and have earned Slash and the band the best critical acclaim of their career with their latest album “Living The Dream” (2018) singled out by the Los Angeles Times, Classic Rock, Guitar World, Loudwire, LA Weekly, and more, as their best songs to date.

The new album “4” has the added history-making distinction of being the first-ever album to be released on the new Gibson Records label, which is headquartered in the iconic American instrument brand Gibson’s hometown of Music City, Nashville. In light of the 30-year partnership between Gibson and the Grammy Award-winning Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Slash, it makes sense the new SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS’ album “4” will be released via Gibson Records.

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will kick off a North American headlining tour on February 8, in Portland, Oregon and hit 28 major cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Houston, and more, before wrapping up March 26 in Orlando, Florida.

METALLICA Launches 'Vinyl Club' 2022

METALLICA has announced the 2022 installment of its very own Vinyl Club.

As huge music fans, the METALLICA members have been super excited to experience the resurgence of vinyl and the enjoyment of collecting, exploring and connecting with other fans mining for lost treasures.

The 2022 Vinyl Club subscription will be available exclusively to members of METALLICA’s Fifth Member fan club between now and the end of this year. Each subscription includes a digital download card and a series of four 12-inch records shipped throughout the year.

METALLICA shared the news of the 2022 installment of the Vinyl Club earlier today. The band wrote: “Vinyl Club is back… and it’s bigger and better than before! Bigger, literally, as in all releases for Vinyl Club 2.0 will be on 12″ vinyl instead of 7”. Better, as in pressing on 12″ vinyl allows us to give you more consistent, higher quality audio and the opportunity to include more music in each release. Starting today, subscriptions are open to Fifth Members for year two: Vinyl Club 2022!

“When we launched the Vinyl Club in March of 2020, it was a labor of love as we are huge music fans ourselves and are so excited about the resurgence of vinyl. Those of us who love the look, feel, and sonic warmth of vinyl are sorta in our own little, exclusive club. So with that in mind, we thought it would be fun to start adding to our collections on a regular basis, and the Vinyl Club was born. We had a few delays along the way in year one, but we learned a ton. We’ve been working behind the scenes to improve everything about our Vinyl Club and are psyched to finally be back for year two.

“The 2022 Vinyl Club Subscription will be available exclusively to Fifth Members between now and the end of this year. It will include four 12” singles featuring music that has never been released on vinyl before. As with year one, you’ll have the option to receive your four singles one at a time in quarterly shipments, or we’ll hold them and ship them to you all at once at the end of the year to save you a little coin on postage.

“Join the METALLICA Vinyl Club now; membership sign-ups for year two are open through Friday, December 31 at 11:59pm ET. Don’t wait! New memberships won’t be available again until the 2023 subscription year.

“We’re excited to kick off a new chapter. Whether you get the subscription for yourself or a friend (it makes a great gift, and we have a nifty certificate to print up for your recipient!) we hope you have a blast collecting some good old-school vinyl.

“More details: As you may have encountered elsewhere, vinyl production around the world is severely delayed. There are very few quality vinyl presses out there, demand is high, and making really cool vinyl records is a slow, manual process. With all of this said, even though we’re planning for these inevitable delays, the first release of 2022 will likely not hit your mailboxes until April of 2022. The following three releases will come a little faster, and our goal is to ship all of them to you before November 1 of 2022.

“Also, behind the scenes, we have completely rebuilt our registration/subscription software. This will make for a more seamless experience for shipping your records and for tracking your membership. However, this means that all current Vinyl Club members will need to re-register for year two. When you register, you’ll have the option to set up automatic renewal for future years.

“We can’t wait to get rolling and share what we have in store for you this year!”

What the subscription includes:

* Four 12″ vinyl singles featuring music that has never been released on vinyl before, made to play at 45 RPM
* Digital Download Card
* The opportunity to purchase exclusive METALLICA Vinyl Club merch.

GENE SIMMONS Says Not Working With VAN HALEN Was KISS's 'Big Mistake'; PAUL STANLEY Begs To Differ

KISS frontman Paul Stanley says that “self-preservation” was the main reason he and KISS manager Bill Aucoin turned down the opportunity to work with VAN HALEN in 1976.

While KISS was in Los Angeles to tape a three-song performance for ABC Television’s “The Paul Lynde Halloween Special”, Stanley and Gene Simmons received an invitation from DJ and club impresario Rodney Bingenheimer to watch two unsigned local acts, THE BOYZ and VAN HALEN, at Starwood club. After the show, Simmons was introduced to VAN HALEN and he expressed a desire to work with the group, offering to sign them to his management label, Man Of A Thousand Faces, and to produce a demo for them to shop to record labels. Simmons ended up flying VAN HALEN to New York to record a demo at Electric Lady Studios, with Gene at the production helm. But he ended up not working with the group after Stanley and Aucoin expressed little interest in his demos.

Gene and Paul reflected on the episode during the question-and-answer session on this year’s Kiss Kruise, which concluded earlier this month. While looking back on KISS’s five-decade career, Simmons said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We made one big mistake — one. There was a band called VAN HALEN. They were signed to Man Of A Thousand Faces Inc. There was a 24-track demo. They were owned lock, stock and barrel and signed and happy and wanted to sign with us, and we said no.”

Stanley chimed in: “Thank goodness. The reason we said no was because part of Gene’s joie de vivre, which means love of life, is he likes to look and do all different things. And sometimes that means reining him in, especially early on in the band’s career where getting involved in other projects was really going to hurt the band. You couldn’t listen to VAN HALEN and not think they were great. Bill knew it. I was with Gene when he first saw VAN HALEN at the Starwood. But the idea of managing or producing bands when we really were still at the beginning of our career was something that was… The move is called self-preservation.”

Gene previously told the Los Angeles Times that he knew there was something special about VAN HALEN the moment he heard them.

“I was thinking, ‘My fucking God, listen to these guys,'” he said. “As soon as Eddie started playing, the thing that struck me right away was that the guy was amazingly fast and light on touch… Eddie was just swimming over that fretboard, and I couldn’t believe the control he had. Everybody’s head just turned around like Linda Blair in ‘The Exorcist’: what is that?”

Gene told Paul Brannigan, the writer of the Eddie Van Halen biography titled “Unchained” (U.S.) / “Eruption” (U.K.), that he couldn’t believe it when Stanley claimed not to hear anything special about VAN HALEN. “Everybody shrugged their shoulders and went, ‘So what?'” Simmons said. “And I’m going, ‘You’re killing me! Whaddya mean, ‘So what?’ Listen to that!'”

“I tore up the contract and said, ‘You guys are free,'” Simmons told Brannigan. “I said, We’re going out on tour, and when I get back, if you don’t have a deal, I’ll come back and I’ll try to help you. But right now, I don’t feel ethical in shopping your tape because the rest of the guys don’t get it.'”
