DECAPITATED Releases 'Cancer Culture' Music Video

Polish tech death metal virtuosos DECAPITATED will release their eighth studio album, “Cancer Culture”, on May 27 via Nuclear Blast Records. The official music video for the LP’s first single, the title track, can be seen below.

DECAPITATED guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka commented: “The video was filmed last December in Płock, Poland. This time we have teamed up with Mateusz Winkiel, the director of Mania Studio, with who we have worked closely on the complete scenario. It was a good experience, and I hope our fans will appreciate the final effect of the work and an important message we tried to conclude in this picture.”

Vogg previously stated about the new track: “It wasn’t easy to pick the first single from ‘Cancer Culture’. Each song has this different vibe that we would like to show as soon as possible and be proud of. Since the ‘Cancer Culture’ is the first song from the album, we decided that this would be the perfect way to introduce you to new music. It is the album’s opening chapter, and you know, what you can expect.”

He continued: “Finally, after so many months of waiting, we got it. The announcement of our brand new album ‘Cancer Culture’ and a new single is on!

“The expectations were high, and we also gave ourselves a massive challenge with this album. But I think hard work pays off.

“We had an opportunity to gather amazing people who took care of the production and helped us deliver the best we could with this album.
Again, Jarek Szubrycht (‘Carnival Is Forever’) has written amazing lyrics for us about the disproportion between the dreams, ambitions, and aspirations of humanity.

“The leading engineer of the album was Tomasz Zed Zalewski (‘Anticult’), David Castillo, responsible for mixing the album, and Ted Jensen for the final touch for mastering. For the cover, for the first time, we have worked with Fabio Timpanaro, an Italian artist whose art perfectly describes what we wanted to tell through visual art.

“Don’t misinterpret the title meaning of the album. It has a much broader context. You will be surprised at what we have delivered this time.”

DECAPITATED’s latest album, “Anticult”, was released in July 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Formed in 1996, DECAPITATED built a reputation over the years as one of the international leaders of the “tech death” genre. Over its 26-year career, DECAPITATED has released seven studio albums, which are considered to be some of the most influential death metal releases of the 21st century.

Since 2019, Kiełtyka has been taking care of second-guitar duties in MACHINE HEAD following the departure of Phil Demmel.

DECAPITATED is:

Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka – guitars
Rafał “Rasta” Piotrowski – vocals
James Stewart – drums
Paweł Pasek – bass (live)

SUM 41 Announces 'Heaven And Hell' Double Album

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, Grammy-nominated band SUM 41 has shared a first look at the details of its upcoming eighth studio album. Vocalist Deryck Whibley revealed that the double album, titled “Heaven And Hell”, is shaping up to be the most ambitious of the band’s career; half of the album, “Heaven”, brings SUM 41 back to its pop punk roots, while the other half, “Hell”, is strictly metal.

“As I listened to almost all of [the newly written songs], it just kind of dawned on me. Did I just make a double record on accident?” Whibley recalled.

Regarding the inspiration for the metal half of the album, Whibley said: “Some of the metal stuff comes with a lot of anger for people who have stolen from me and hurt me in the past.” As for the pop-punk aspect of the new record, he shared: “It all made sense to me why pop-punk is coming back: it’s feel-good music. There’s something that’s happy about it. Something young and innocent and free.”

As previously reported, SUM 41 will join forces with SIMPLE PLAN for the “Blame Canada” tour, their upcoming two-part, full U.S. co-headline run. Fans will be able to join in as the bands commemorate their debut records, with SUM 41 performing “All Killer No Filler” in full and SIMPLE PLAN performing “No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls”. The first leg kicks off on April 29 and features special guest SET IT OFF.

SUM 41’s storied 24-plus-year career includes over 15 million records sold worldwide, multiple Billboard-charting releases, a Grammy Award nomination, two Juno Awards (seven nominations), a Kerrang! Award in 2002, as well as multiple Alternative Press Music Awards.

SACRED REICH Cancels More Shows Due To Frontman PHIL RIND's 'Ongoing Respiratory Illness'

Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH have canceled one more show on their North American tour with SEPULTURA due to frontman Phil Rind’s “ongoing respiratory illness.” Rind was hospitalized last Saturday (March 19) with a non-COVID-19-related illness. The trek, which kicked off on March 4 in Sacramento, California, also features support from CROWBAR and ART OF SHOCK.

Earlier today (Wednesday, March 23), Rind released the following statement: “Unfortunately due to the ongoing respiratory illness I am experiencing SACRED REICH will not be playing tonight in Greensboro. We are truly sorry.

“The nature of my recovery is uncertain. The doctors in the hospital said I have three different viruses along with my asthma and it’s just going to take time.

“We are committed to finishing the tour. We have all been waiting for too long to give up now. So all we can do is take it day by day.

“I feel confident that this will pass and we will rejoin our friends SEPULTURA, CROWBAR and ART OF SHOCK. I just can’t say when.

“Thank you all for your love, prayers, well wishes and concern. It is greatly appreciated.”

SACRED REICH previously canceled shows in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Cleveland on its tour with SEPULTURA, CROWBAR and ART OF SHOCK. The trek is scheduled to conclude on April 9 in Berkeley, California.

SACRED REICH’s latest album, “Awakening”, was released in August 2019 via Metal Blade Records. The band’s first LP in 23 years was produced by Arthur Rizk, who has previously worked with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, POWER TRIP and CODE ORANGE, among others. The album marks SACRED REICH’s first release since the return of drummer Dave McClain.

“Awakening” was described in a press release as “a timeless collection comprised of blistering thrash, crushing grooves, killer solos and socially conscious lyrics that demonstrate a true understanding of everything that matters most in the world today.”

“Awakening” was engineered by John Aquilino and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum.

In 2019, SACRED REICH guitarist and founding member Jason Rainey exited the band for “health reasons” and was replaced by Joey Radziwill. Rainey died in March 2020 of an apparent heart attack.

ARCH ENEMY's MICHAEL AMOTT: 'Music Is Something That We Still Feel Very Passionate About'

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott spoke to Knotfest.com about the musical direction of the band’s 11th studio album, “Deceivers”, which will arrive on July 29 via Century Media Records. He said: “We have a style that we’ve established in our 25-plus-year careers, but music is something that we still feel very passionate about. That is the driving force. There’s always something that we haven’t tried. Either ‘We’ve never started a song like that,’ or ‘we’ve never used this kind of melody or chord structure,’ there’s always little new things you can try out. Music is pretty much endless. But we still stay true to the ARCH ENEMY sound. We don’t want to stray too far from our roots. And I say that, but recently I listened to our first album, and it’s so different compared to what we do now. So there has been a progression, but I think it’s been an organic one. Something that has happened naturally. I think we, and maybe me in particular, think about that a lot. You want to have some new elements in every album, I think it’s important. We want to do that, but we don’t try to do too much in one go.”

Amott went on to say that he and his ARCH ENEMY bandmates “are trying something different for this album: we are releasing more singles than we ever have before. It was an idea that came from our record label,” he explained. “They wanted to do it this way, and it’s a new way of working for us. Usually we release a maximum of two singles, and then the album’s out and we’re on tour, but these are different times. We haven’t been able to tour, and, of course, people listen to music in a different way now, more on a single-based approach.

“All the songs on the album are a bit different and that’s what makes it so hard to pick singles,” he continued. “Some bands are great at writing the same type of song always. They’re great songs, but they have a formula in a way. But there’s so many different things that we do. We try to create varied albums with different emotions, different colors, and it makes it difficult when you pick the singles.”

Last month, ARCH ENEMY released the official music video for its latest single, “Handshake With Hell”, directed by Patric Ullaeus. Before “Handshake With Hell” arrived, fans were also able to check out the previously released album tracks, “Deceiver, Deceiver” and “House Of Mirrors”.

This spring, ARCH ENEMY and BEHEMOTH will return to the states to co-headline “The North American Siege 2022” tour with NAPALM DEATH and UNTO OTHERS as special guests, before ARCH ENEMY appears at select summer festivals; the rescheduled “European Siege 2022” tour (with ARCH ENEMY, BEHEMOTH, CARCASS, UNTO OTHERS) will kick off in the fall.
