This slice of real estate isn’t usually the spot for tour announcements that aren’t the annual Decibel Magazine tour, but we’ve never been and never will be above helping the little dude out. And when the little dude(s) in question are road dogging workhorses and longtime Friends of Decibel, Gorgatron, who we’ve featured in this space numerous times (here, here, here) we’re all in on providing whatever support we can. This time in the form of a tour announcement.
Fargo’s most fatalistic sons have put together, and are headlining, a humdinger of a summer run that’ll bring three phases of midwestern metal to eight states and four provinces, including stops at Loud As Hell Fest in Drumheller, Alberta, Four Winds Fest in Sioux Falls, and Iowa Underground Fest in Cedar Rapids. Christened the Northern Destruction tour, it sees Gorgatron’s death/grind intensity joined by horror-and-death metal-obsessed cheese heads — because they’re from Wisconsin, not because they’re cheesy — Casket Robbery (who have been given previous mention here and here) and Iowa’s up-and-coming thrashers Frontal Assault, whose latest release is a split called 10 Beer Plan, so you know they’ll be up for doing some parking lot shotgunning.
When reached for comment about their forthcoming summer vacation, the obviously excited trio of bands had this to say:
“We’ll be thrashin’, bashin’ and blastin’ throughout North America with a mixed bill of the heaviest hitters from the Midwest metal scene. We toured with Casket Robbery last year and have been looking forward to hitting the road with one of the hardest working bands we know! Killer band and great people! Then we have Iowa thrashers Frontal Assault opening the show to sonically kick everyone’s ass! You’ll become an instant fan! This tour is bringing us back to some of our favorite venues throughout the Midwest and Canada. After this run we have a couple more tricks up our sleeves to announce, then we will start putting together our 20 year celebration as a band starting next year into 2027! “Frontal Assault is a three-piece prog thrash band from Cedar Rapids, Iowa that formed in 2016 originally as an old-school thrash-loving band. Through the years we have crafted our own unique sound meshing old-school thrash with progressive and black metal. Often coining ourselves as ‘weirdo thrash’ and ‘super thrash,’ our use of spacey themes and sci-fi influences are integral to the intended purpose. We’ve been huge fans of Gorgatron and Casket Robbery for a long time, so it was a no-brainer when we were offered a spot on this tour. This will be our first time in Canada and out west and we have been working hard to curate a killer set to bring to all of the new ears that will hear us for the first time! We are extremely stoked and grateful to be a part of this tour and can’t wait to jam in all of these new cities and meet all of these new people.” —Frontal Assault
