LAKE MALICE have released a new music video!
The new music video, for the track Scatterbrain, is the brand new single from the Brighton-based alternative outfit and follows on from their previous single, Eternal December, which was released in March last year.
The new single was self-produced by the band with Carl Bown [SLEEP TOKEN, WHILE SHE SLEEPS, MALEVOLENCE] who handled mixing duties.
Speaking about the new single, guitarist Blake Cornwall says, “Scatterbrain is about feeling disillusioned and overwhelmed in modern day society. The repeating chant: ‘Spin, wash, repeat, mind, soul, body, neat’ is a metaphor for struggling to keep up in a chronically online, superficial and capitalistic society, leaving little time to take care of yourself and make meaningful social connections.
The line ‘I can’t trust my bank, I’ve no five year plan, but I’m so good at dreaming’ is a commentary on the unrealistic expectations to achieve the same prospects and goals of older generations. Despite having constant access to each other’s lives through social media, we have never felt more disconnected from the world around us and anxious to leave our homes.
The themes of desperation and frustration are reflected musically by glitchy, hyper-pop-inspired rhythms, in contrast with an anthemic rock chorus and anger-fuelled, modern metalcore guitar riffs.”
