Irish experimental rock and metal outfit GOD ALONE. have announced a brand new album!
The upcoming album, titled The Beep Test, is the band’s third full-length studio record – the follow-up to 2022’s ETC – and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Prosthetic Records.
The album was co-produced by the band alongside Joe Clayton of PIJN, and recorded primarily at home, with only the drums tracked in a professional studio. Influenced by LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, TEARS FOR FEARS, TURNSTILE, and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, the band aimed to capture the energy and dynamics of their live performances.
Speaking about the album, guitarist and vocalist Jake O’Driscoll says, “we’ve been a band since we were really young, and the genre-bending aspect has come a long way. In the past, it sort of resembled slapping random elements together. It’s more cohesive now. The Beep Test has influences from math rock, prog, and metal, but the songwriting is more mature and almost pop. The goal is for it to be different and interesting.”
To mark the announcement, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; the album’s title track. Speaking about the new song, bassist and vocalist Cian Mullane says, “The Beep Test is a song that seemed to write itself from the first racing section onwards. We were heavily inspired by athleticism and the concept of running so fast it becomes robotic, and that theme carries over the entire album.”
