Cleveland-based doom metal outfit FRAYLE have announced a brand new album!
The upcoming album, titled Heretics & Lullabies, is the band’s third full-length studio record – the follow-up to 2022’s Skin & Sorrow – and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Napalm Records.
Heretics & Lullabies was recorded by the band and produced, mixed and mastered by Aaron Chaparian at Iron Audio (BLEEDING THROUGH, HARM’S WAY). The album intends to see the band further develop their signature “lullabies of chaos” sound, blending occult-driven doom, blackgaze, and ethereal vocals with crushing guitars and atmosphere-heavy alt-rock.
To coincide with the announcement, the band have released a cover of LANA DEL REY’s hit single Summertime Sadness. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Walking Wounded, which was released last month.
Speaking about the cover, the band comment, “we’ve always been fans of songwriting with notes of melancholy, no matter what the genre. Hearing Summertime Sadness for the first time was special. Everything seemed to fall into place for us with little resistance on this song. It was the first rough mix we got back from our producer. He added the pause before the breath leading into the first chorus and upon hearing it, we knew we had something special.”
