BLOODBOUND have announced a brand new album!
The upcoming album, titled Field Of Swords, is the eleventh studio record from the Swedish power metal band and is scheduled to be released in November this year, via Napalm Records. The album marks the band’s first release with Napalm Records and follows 2023’s Tales From The North.
Speaking about the new album, keyboardist Fredrik Bergh says, “Field Of Swords is a concept album, a continuation from our last album Tales From The North (2023) which touched upon the subject of the Viking era. On Field Of Swords, we have moved on in history and entered the Middle Ages (after 1066). The concept, in short, is the following: When the Viking Age ended in the year of our Lord 1066, came the long and grim Medieval times. We are extremely excited about the new album and to release it with the backing of the mighty Napalm Records. Music-wise, the new album has a slightly more modern sound, but we can guarantee it includes all the elements BLOODBOUND is known for! It’s a diverse record with aggressive songs, epic tracks, and it also contains some of the fastest parts we have written. And on the other hand, we have some slower, majestic songs as well, like, The Nine Crusades where UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ Brittney Slayes duets with Patrik. Field Of Swords has everything you can ask for!”
Alongside the album announcement, the band have released a new music video for the record’s first single, Defenders Of Jerusalem. Speaking about the track, Bergh says, “Defenders Of Jerusalem is, in my opinion, one of the top tracks on the new album. It’s a song Tomas wrote on his own. On every BLOODBOUND album he always delivers outstanding tracks; this is one of them. It’s going to be a killer song to play live as well.”
Guitarist Tomas Olsson adds, “Defenders Of Jerusalem is a song about the siege of Jerusalem in 1187 where Balian of Ibelin bravely defended the city against Saladin’s overwhelming forces.”
