We are truly saddened to report the passing of BLACK SABBATH‘s legendary vocalist Ozzy Osbourne.
Having just performed one final legendary show at Villa Park in their home city of Birmingham three weeks ago, of which he told fans “you’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Now, our godfather of heavy metal is at peace.
Having formed BLACK SABBATH in 1968 alongside Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler, Osbourne would play a pivotal role in establishing heavy metal. Now, sixty years after the birth of our genre and its numerous offshoots, sub-genres, and experimental deviations, all roads lead back to BLACK SABBATH. Alongside SABBATH, Osbourne would go onto enjoy a wildly successful solo career and on-screen success in the reality TV series The Osbournes, cementing his reputation as a global icon.
In a statement of his passing, his family said, “it is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved OZZY OSBOURNE has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
RIP Ozzy Osbourne
All of us at Distorted Sound send our deepest condolences to Ryan’s friends, family, bandmates and fans.
