We are truly saddened to report the passing of AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg.
In August, the Swedish vocalist shared via his Instagram that he was battling adenoid cystic carcinoma, a form of cancer that affects the mouth and palette. Now, we are truly saddened to report that he has passed away. The news of his passing was announced this morning on Instagram by friend David Isberg [ex-OPETH].
Since forming AT THE GATES in 1990, Lindberg would spearhead his band to leave a profound and lasting impact on the world of heavy music. Helping cement the development of melodic death metal and delivering an all time great in 1995’s Slaughter Of The Soul. Comeback records – 2014’s At War With Reality and 2018’s To Drink From The Night Itself – and 2021’s The Nightmare Of Being had re-established AT THE GATES as a genuine juggernaut in the world of metal. A genuine metal giant and one who will be truly missed.
