BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS have announced a brand new album!
The upcoming album, titled The Hardest Thing About Being God Is That No One Believes Me, from the New Zealand-based progressive death metal band is the follow-up to 2023’s Rejecting Obliteration, and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Prosthetic Records.
Speaking about the album, guitarist Stuart Henley-Minchington says, “it’s the first time we’ve ever done a concept album with one overarching story from start to finish. You could almost think of it as a movie or a series.”
Vocalist Stace Fifield adds, “the record traces the psychological unraveling of a person consumed by unrequited love. As their fixation deepens, affection mutates into obsession, delusion, and violence. The final revelation of the person’s identity reframes the story as a gendered descent into madness – culminating in a brutal, fatal union under the guise of love. This revelation is given as a twist to the listener/reader to further accentuate the poetic effort of the lyrics and story.”
The band have also released the first single from the record, titled Compulsion. Speaking about the track, Henley-Minchington comments, “it was the first song I wrote for this. It showed me what the rest of the record could look like since it was immediately faster and far more aggressive, intense, and layered. Right off the bat, I knew, ‘This is going to be our heaviest body of work’. Thematically, you’re seeing the character really descend into madness. The vocals illuminate how the character is coming into the mix. It’s short, sweet, crazy, and no bullshit.”
