SUMO CYCO have announced a new album!
The upcoming album, titled Neon Void, is the fourth full-length effort from the Canadian alternative metal band is the follow-up to 2021’s Initiation, and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via self-release.
Thematically, Neon Void explores the chaos and resilience of modern life, blending punk grit, metal, and pop sensibility. The album was produced by Salvatore Sam Guiana and Matt Drake, and recorded in the band’s converted church studio in Ontario.
Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist Skye Sweetnam shares, “the neon void is temptation and escape. It’s both maze and mirror. This record was written when I felt trapped in darkness and needed to build my way back toward something vibrant and alive. We’ve always bent genres, but this time, it wasn’t just about experimenting, it was about refining. We’ve never put more time into a record than this one.”
Alongside the album announcement, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the record; Shivers.
Speaking about the new single, Sweetnam says, “Shivers captures that gut feeling you get when something feels wrong even if you can’t explain why. It’s a physical reaction beyond your control, no matter how much you try.”
