Folk Singer and Activist Pete Seeger Dead at 94
Legendary folk singer, and activist Pete Seeger has passed away. Seeger died at the age of 94 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital on January 27. Seeger had
his own television series in the 50s, and recorded the number one hit “Goodnight, Irene” with his band the Weavers. In the 1960s he was a proponent of the
young Bob Dylan. Seeger was responsible for turning the spiritual “We Shall Overcome” in to an anthem for the American Civil Rights Movement.
