Acoustic Magazine Gives the Rancher Penguin a Sparkling Review

U.K.-based Acoustic Magazine recently gave the G5021WPE Rancher™ Penguin™ Parlor Acoustic/Electric a sparkling review for sound, construction and over-the-top looks.

Amazed by the Penguin’s show-stopping white finish and gold sparkle accents, the reviewer commented on the guitar’s aesthetics right out of the gate.

“This guitar is not taking any prisoners, visually,” wrote the editor. “If it were a pop star, it would be Vegas Elvis. If it were an outfit, it would be a white leather miniskirt and a tassled waistcoat.”

However, hidden under those flashy looks is a serious stage-worthy guitar loaded with features, including a solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard with 20 vintage-style frets and Neo-Classical thumbnail inlays, and a Fishman Isys pickup and preamp system.

“Strumming reveals a bright, clear voice, ringing and lovely when played gently, and developing a bit of an edge when you dig in and push the top harder,” described the editor of the guitar’s tone. “Things never get messy, muddy or boxy though, even under really hard playing, which is a sign that Gretsch has got something very right with this sparkly little box.”
